Terms new domain name
- A French .fr domain name can opnly be registered by a French company or the holder of a French trade mark.
- When applying for or when transferring a domain, a French 'lettre engagement afnic' needs to send to Prenames in combination with a French Chambre of Commerce form (Extrait KBis) .
- Also, the SIRET/ SIREN number needs to be communicated, this usually can be found of the French Chambre of Commerce form.
- The data mentioned on the 'lettre engagement afnic' should be the same as the data on the Extrait KBis.
- A brand name holder should send the 'lettre engagement afnic' in combination with the official papers for the registered brand name, instead of the Chambre of Commerce form and the SIRET number. The request can only be made by the brand name holder.
- A private person from French origin can register a '.com.fr' domain. Next to the 'lettre engagement afnic' a copy of his/her passport needs to be provided.
- After the registration request, the .fr domain needs to be registered within two weeks. So if any problem occurs, it needs to be solved within that time period or the ticket will be closed and the invoice needs to be paid, even if the domain is unregistered or untransferred!
- The domain needs to be entered into the name servers according to the rules of the French Registry. Ise the zone check tool.

Additional terms with transfer
- The currect provider needs to be notified of the transfer, so that permission can be given to this transfer. If payments still have to be made, the transfer can be refused.
- Lettre Engagement Afnic (French Registration form). Needs to be used for both new and transferring domains. Don't forget to mention the full name and the job title with the signature.
- Request form Needs to be used for both new and transferring domains.
