- The German .de domein name needs to be entered into the name servers according to the strict rules of the German Registry (Denic).
- The first condition is the use of 2 seperate name servers that both need to be in a seperate subnet (see example).
- Also, the SOA values need to be within the following range:
- refresh : 10000 - 86400
- retry: 1800 -28800
- expire: 604800 - 3600000
- ttl: 180 - 345600
- Serial: YYYYMMDDnn (YYYY = year, MM = monthnr, DD = day number,
nn = serialnumber)
Name servers are in a different subnet if the IP-address if at least one value of the first 3 ranges is different. The following is an example from an incorrect submission:
ns1.provider.com - 216.185.12.1
ns2.provider.com - 216.185.12.2
The IP-range 216.185.12.* forms one subnet.

Additional terms for transfers
- The current provider should be notified prior to the transfer and needs to give permission. Some providers can be difficult and refuse to cooperate.
